Crosscut’s Ski Education Programs
Outdoor fun for young learners
Crosscut offers quality ski education programs to K-12 aged youth from around Montana. These programs are designed to introduce students and remote learners to Nordic skiing, and spark a lifetime of awareness and appreciation for outdoor landscapes. Whether you’re an educator, a student in school, remote or homeschool learning environment we have something for you!
Our Ski Education curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to offer place-based learning experiences in the outdoors, while incorporating elements of the Next Generation Science Standards within each activity. It supports experiential learning and offers a unique supplemental educational opportunity for students. We strive to provide an education experience that is adaptable and engaging for grades 3rd-12th. For K-2 graders, our program teaches students the basics of cross-country skiing and fosters an appreciation of the stunning environment and all the critters who call Crosscut home.
Program Offerings
Adventures in Winter Ecology (3rd-12th) and Nordic Adventures (K-2nd)
We are happy to partner with local schools again this year for our two of our longtime favorite programs: Adventures in Winter Ecology and Nordic Adventures. The programs provide skiing, science, and Indigenous Peoples education to a wide range of students. Our schedule for this season has already filled, but if you are a teacher who would like to get on the waitlist, please email skieducation@crosscutmt.org.
Sessions for remote learners and homeschoolers (K-6th)
Our homeschool program provides experiential, outdoor education for remote learners and homeschoolers grades K-6. The session will meet weekly for 6 weeks for a day of classic skiing and place-based education. Students will build on their skiing and science skills each week with the same group of peers. If your child has their own skis, please note that they must be classic skis. Fish scales are preferred, but waxable skis are okay if your student is experienced and self-sufficient with waxing.
