“When given the opportunity to learn adventure sports together, girls grow individual confidence and community strength.

Empowering + Encouraging Young Female Athletes

At Crosscut, we are incredibly lucky to be frequent witnesses to the joy and self-belief on girls' faces as they gain confidence in mountain biking, biathlon, and cross-country skiing.

Numerous studies show that teenage girls drop out of sport at starkly different rates than their male peers — 1 in 3 leave sport by their late teens. By comparison, only 1 in 10 teenage boys drop out.

Crosscut is passionate about providing positive, meaningful opportunities for girls to participate in sports.

Girls thrive at Crosscut’s camps because we prepare them to set goals, face fears, tackle new experiences, and assess appropriate risk taking. Then they take these skills with them wherever they go.

Since our Youth Biathlon Program is so popular, the best way to become a new participant is to fill out the Youth Biathlon Interest Form below.

“Shooting is a predominantly male sport, but when girls learn to shoot, it gives them confidence and allows them to feel that they can take risks, learn other sports or skills.”

– Ann Sorenson, Youth Biathlon Coach

*We welcome all girls — transgender and cisgender — as well as nonbinary people who identify with the girl’s and women’s community.
